This is trailed HL12

 via air drying the strips for around 30 minutes HL12 to shape a semi-porous covering of cellulose acetic acid derivation over the impregnated end of the strips.  HL12  The air dried strips are ideally put away in chestnut glass bottles until utilized. Being used, an impregnated and covered strip is spread with the fluid example (i.e. blood) to be tried.
